Why an Advocacy Unit

Palestinians living in Jerusalem are forced to deal with a multitude of laws, policies and practices that make it increasingly difficult to enjoy a safe, secure, productive life in the city they love. Revoking residencies of Palestinian Jerusalemites, denying building permits, developing discriminatory planning and zoning plans, demolishing homes, denying or limiting access to services and supports - all are ways the State of Israel uses to ensure a Jewish majority in Jerusalem by pushing Palestinians out of Jerusalem or refusing their return. Punitive house demolitions and residency revocations are measures used to punish the whole community for any acts of resistance to the Israeli occupation of the city and to the discrimination and violence experienced on a daily basis by Palestinians.
